Mohan Meakin – a name that conjures up a rich sage of traditions and culture. Endowed with a glorious legacy, the house prides in its impeccable and peerless products, all in a league of their own. The origins of Mohan Meakin transcend an era of century and half ago, with the first brewery founded by Sir Edward Dyer, at Kasauli, Shimla, in India of 1855. The Kasauli brewery launched India’s and indeed Asia’s first beer, which was in great demand by the thirsty British administrators and troops stationed in the sweltering heat of India.
Another entrepreneurial Englishman, H G Meakin, bought the old Shimla and Solan Breweries, thus paving the way for the establishment of the Dyer Meakin Company.
1949 saw a dynamic transformation in the fortunes of the company, with Lt. Shri N.N.Mohan at the helm of affairs. And since there has been no looking back, since.
His eminent successors have borne the mantle with élan. Instilling upon the company the strength of purpose, corporate values and a sense of direction, they have reached new heights. Aptly mirrored in Mohan Meakin’s swift march towards progress and phenomenal growth.
The challenges of present are ably met by Brigadier (Dr.) Kapil Mohan, VSM (Retd).Ph.d. Under his stewardship, the group rechristened as Mohan Meakin Limited, undertook major diversification with 6 distilleries in India and abroad, 5 breweries and a host of franchises. A multi faceted business house, Mohan Meakin stands for growth, innovation and care.
